Kami Houck July 21st- August 2nd

Wow it's been a relief to get this last weekend over! We have been working so hard these last two weeks because July 29-31st were Brighton's 90th birthday celebration. Last Thursday I spent all day chopping a huge pile of wood with a wood splitter. It was the coolest thing ever. It could split up too 24 tons! That's amazing! Our goal for the last two weeks was too get the place looking great from the moment you drive up. I took time and lined the driveway with rocks. We had finished up the amphitheater when our boss decided that she wanted to fix the roof of the barn that is directly behind the theater, so we have to move what we had just finished. It was a bitter sweet moment because we had worked so hard, but the roof did need to be fixed. That is one of those moments that we do what we are told. So Doug and a couple other men hopped on a machine that took them high in the air to the roof, and worked on that for 3-4 days straight. It was incredible how quickly they fixed it. We had a devotional for the celebration that I was able to set up the sound system with a friend, and that was really neat because I had never done it before. It was one of those things that I know I could do again with confidence. It has been a little stressful because we had so many visitors come to camp and we wanted to please them. There was a few times that I let it affect me and that's something that I've learned I don't want to happen when it doesn't need too. I've said this a lot but I feel that I have had such good experiences this summer. Last week we had around 6 staff members that were sick so I was able to do about 4 hours of zip line with the girls. It was a blast!! It's been an awesome couple of weeks!
